M25 cameras catch no one in a year

A network of 36 speed cameras on the M25 has caught no one in a year because none has been switched on. Technical and legal difficulties have prevented the Highways Agency from switching on the variable speed limit cameras. It came to light when AOL tried to find out which camera had raised the most in fines. The Highways Agency...

Bit more than you think...

A story worth printing MCN.  Wonder how much it cost from the initial council meeting that raised the idea (probably several years ago) to the guy putting in the final bolt on the last camera before climbing back down the ladder.  Ready to go... except ahhh... we overlooked the legals.  So we'll leave them off.  Still, good to know the'yre just sitting there costing money to maintain (re-paint, change lens etc.).  Whilst the council meetings continue... and we're also paying for them (including their biscuits and tetley).   Remember the Cat & Fiddle debacle? (another great MCN dog with a bone)  Oversight learnings from councils lack one thing.... oversight.

Unfortunately the sort of people attracted to "public service" related to safety are often the sort of people that are completely convinced they know what is best for us. This is why such idiocy and deceit occurs; in order to have their way at all costs especially common sense. YES to they should be called something other than "safety" cameras because that is an unconvincing argument when you consider where some of them are placed and the fact that more dangerous factors are ignored. Those that are as old as me may remember when there weren't cameras and traffic police with targets to meet and speeding fell to the general policeman. The benefit was that some proportionality was applied and the conditions considered.

I Reckon...

The Economy of this "Once Great Country" would be vastly improved if the hard working and much regulated and targeted tax paying public was allowed to go about their business at a reasonable pace and not fined and harassed at every turn by the "So called safety partnership" or "Do gooding FUCKWITS" lets start to turn this country around , lets kick out the Unproven and unwanted rules, lets get the country moving again. hell lets start using the brains that once made us "Great".

Cameras what cameras?

Look the facts of the matter simple, if we don't like the work these people of whom make the decisions we can step in and replace them.

One of the big problems with this is of course that it means leaving our beloved jobs that pay so well now.

Someone has to do these jobs and oddly enough bikers seem less intrested in politics than donning the latest bit of biker bling for their bike.

Which one of us would be happy to have some moron that doesn't know how to drive blame you for taking away their right to drive like a twat when they crash.

Well that's how stupid people are, they drive like twats, crash then blame everything or everyone else except their own bad driving, which means the numpty safety lobby has to look into it just in case they can be sued.

So our laws are to blame the more people sue councils and organisations for bad roads or poor junctions or whatever, the more safety things will be put in place to ensure that your journeys are boring and uneventful, not necessarily safe but not sueable.

So though it hurts me to say this, but it has to be said, Blame the shit drivers for the safety madness being put in place everywhere including the cameras cos laws tend to be in response rather than pre-empting.

"Blame the shit drivers" ? nope , how about directing all the tax payers cash towards banning all the shit drivers ? that would be far better.
