Its easy for farnarkle to mess around with figures by only putting Rossi's last 6 seasons results which includes 2 disastrous Ducati seasons but the truth of the whole of Rossi's gp career has earned him 9 titles to Stoners 2 & a hell of a lot more wins in all classes...Stoner was at best mediocre in the smaller classes mostly due to his flat track rear steer technique which ultimately suited the all powerful Ducati with design flawed steering, a problem which he rode around, rather than cure...Stoner is a great rider on powerful bikes, cant develop a bike but can ride any powerful bike you put under him & will ultimately be recognised as a quitter

A little perspective on your ramblings

Rossi has been in Motogp virtually twice as long as Stoner so of course he has more wins and titles. What a stupid comparison to try and draw. Stoner would have had to win the title every year to take 7 titles, which included his rookie year with inferior equipment and 4 years on a Ducati that Rossi struggled to get past 6th place race finishes in 2 seasons. From 2000 - 2010 Rossi had the best equipment available - look what happened when he didn't. 

Same story in 125 and 250, Rossi was given the best, Stomer had make do bikes. When Stoner finally got a decent bike he finished 2nd to Pedrosa in 250 - not too mediocre and beating Dovi and Lorenzo in the process.

Stoner can't develop a bike, couldn't cure the Ducati so rode around the problem? - which gave him 23 wins, many podiums and 1, 2, 4, and 4 in the championship

Rossi also couldn't cure the Ducati, therefore couldn't develop it but he couldn't ride around the problem either - which gave him 0 wins, a whopping 3 podiums and an impressive 7th and 6th in the championship - then he quit after saying he'd stay (what was the message about sticking together) to take a ride back with Yamaha

So what's your point?

From 2000 - 2010 Rossi had the best equipment available - look what happened when he didn't.

2004 Honda won the constructors..the next best Yamaha was 7th and the year before Rossi arrived in 2003, the factory bikes didn't podium all season. 

Look what happened to Stoners results on the Ducati..?

He had the best equipment available in 2007 and, as Bulto says, by the time he left the bike was far from it. Rossi spent two years trying to put right Stoner's dodgy feedback.

He was starting to do the same with his Honda before he jacked.

Resources count for nothing if the man in charge doesn't have a clue how to effectively translate proven rider feedback into design that moves the project forward.

Ducati brought virtually nothing to the table 2012. The reason Rossi went back to Yamaha and the reason Preziosi got sacked.

Dani Pedrosa took the Honda upgrades and sorted his chatter issues. It's no coincedence his results improved from mid season on. 

Stoner refused, prefering to struggle with what he thought he knew. Went behind. Then crashed himself out of contention again, playing catch-up.
