Yes Stoner was more exciting to watch but I gurantee Lorenzo will win far more than Stoner ever has.
But hardly surprising as Stoner has retired and Lorenzo has another couple of years at least before he thinks of retirement (his words, not mine)
Now, as for Lorenzo being a far more complete rider, I'm afraid that one can never be answered as Lorenzo will never have to show whether he was adaptable, therefore complete enough, to ride a Ducati to wins. His entire Motogp career has been spent on a class leading bike, therefore comparisons of 'completeness' are neither fair or accurate. Stoner has achieved more from a similar period which involved one year on a 2nd rate satellite bike and 4 on a bike that wasn't quite as good as the competition.
Lorenzo is indeed very fast but by his own admission has a couple of areas in which he can improve. Stoner also said of himself that he was still learning every time he got on the bike.
Lorenzo played the percentages game well in the second half of the season, going for wins but as soon as Pedrosa got past in a race he settled for second, when trying to challenge for the win became a risk. Once the title was won, he went for it in Valencia, but this time with Pedrosa pushing hard and closing, he binned it.
Mental weakness?
Not as far as I'm concerned no, he just made a mistake which all riders do from time to time. But imagine if that had been Stoner not Lorenzo - you can imagine the comments on here from some - hadn't got the balls to race, settled for second places for a soft championship win, then when he did try to race he caved in mentally under pressure and binned it....
