Oil Level Sight Glass

My 1996 Triumph T'Bird 900 oil level sight glass has darkened with age and very difficult to see now the correct oil level. Any ideas for checking the oil without having to strip the bike down to fit a new glass?

oil level sight glass

Some bikes/scooters sight glasses can be replaced from the outside but are prone to damage without the rider knowing, can only suggest shining a strong light down the filler hole when checking, also use a quality engine oil with an added detergent and hopefully clean the glass.(plastic really)
