Unexplainable yearning for an R1

Hi strangers

Lately I've had strange urges...to own an R1. I don't know if I'll do anything about fulfilling them or not but I've been considering anything from '04-'07 or maybe even '08. Any opinions on those models anyone?

In all seriousness

I can't suggest anything better than getting a test ride if you can.  I could waffle on for hours about the character traits of all sorts of bikes, but only because I've been lucky enough to ride them all regularly, but ultimately and as shallow as it may seem, get the bike that you KNOW pulls at your heart strings.

As for any particular mechanical niggles,it's pretty much irrelevant as nearly any sports bike that's been looked after well, will prove fairly reliable.
