Monster deal for Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo

Yamaha’s factory MotoGP squad, featuring Valentino Rossi and reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo in 2013, has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with US energy drink giant Monster. Monster Energy branding will be visible on the bikes and leathers of Rossi and Lorenzo as well as on all official team clothing and equipment. The deal for 2013 and 2014 though is not a...

A bit too overlooked

Reading the thread is disappointing, as people just seem to argue over everything! The article says it all yet people still continue to chat sh!t?

The fact is, no one has seen the livery and it wont be a monster energy bike like tech 3, it will just feature some monster logos as they are a big sponsor, and it says that Yamaha still need a title sponsor.

The deal is for raised awareness as a part of the marketing of monster and is complementary to Rossi's personal deal. The reason they do this is to raise brand awareness and make consumers associate their company with the worlds greatest extreme sporting legends, e.g. rossi, ken block, nate adams.

I doubt Lorenzo is annoyed, he will have a better contract with a bigger company paying more money, he wasn't happy with rockstar as the article states, and Yamaha paid off the contract issues and the new deal will benefit his publicity and also monsters, and this is why they want him! Monster buy the champions, for marketing and marketing only, nothing to do with Rossi's return, because as far as they are concerned, Rossi brings more money, whether you like him or not! Lorenzo has the best chance (arguable) to win the championship, and they want him on board.

Alex Crivile was 29, rossi has won 7 in 9, doohan was 33 when he won has last title in '98...biaggi just won the wsbk at 39 and 41, checa also won...so? Still possible, I'm not disagreeing, but its not about that for monster, its publicity...and they are sponsoring Lorenzo, who has a good chance of winning, and they have probably found it too difficult to move red bull out of the way as they are tied to Honda...

Your right it is a young mans sport, as a nine time champion it must be hard to keep finding the desire to do it all again. Its shit or get off the pot time for Rossi no doubt about that. But the cheap Rolex shit etc spouted by the rabid orange thong wearers just makes them look pathetic

He did beat an old man, comprehensively during his career, despite 'a poorly tummy'. Stats don't lie bud and they're there for all to see.

Unless you choose not to?

Alex was lucky. Mick (no-one can doubt his talent) never faced this kind of opposition for the majority of his career. Vale is old and staring down the barrel of many young guns. He'll get shot to bits along with your dreams bud.

Thats not the case though is it? granted the last two years have been a diaster for Rossi but before that whats the score? Stoner wins in dominant fashion in 07 and is hailed the new messia. In 08, 09 , 010 his results go backwards and he finished behind Rossi every year.until the honda move. My firm belief pacey is that put them all on a honda or a Yamaha and there wouldnt be a fag paper between them ( all four aliens) favor and fortune would find the winner, each one of them has their own strengths compared to the others, . Sorry for the one long paragraph but this google chrome is pish.
