New BMW R1200GS Test - What Do you Want To Know?

This week our intrepid road tester Chad jets off to South Africa for the launch of BMW's all-new R1200GS super-traillie. With stiff competition from KTM this year, BMW have strove to out-do themselves (and the opposition), with a new air/water cooled engine making 125bhp, new chassis and new semi-active electronic suspension. What do you want to know about the bike? Ask us...

Hmmmm... More insults...

oh I see, We are all "Twats" because we don't ride BMWs, fairplay R1(????) Stevie. Next time I see a superior being or the master race riding a GS I won't bother nodding i'll just give him some abuse. Nice comment BTW.

Service intervals?

Hi Chad, will the new GS be matching Triumph Explorer’s service intervals of 10k for minor and 20k for major servicing? Cheers GavinT.

see....

that got me thinking, in all my 35 years of nodding to fellow bikers, I can't actually remember a BMW rider, nodding back and all this time it has been because I'm a "TWAT". Thanks R1Stevie for clearing that one up. Now lets see if I can recall how many R1 riders have nodded over the years.

BMW R1200GS

The bike looks good. I have owned a number of BMW's over the years including two GS bikes. I know from experience that there will be 'issues' with the first of the new GS models, so would wait till 'sorted'! Also, BMW dealers in Australia are now so far 'Up themselves' I don't think I'll bother. In fact, a few months ago I bought a new Suzuki V Strom DL1000, which, at a lot less than half the price of the BMW, would keep up with it pretty well anywhere, and it's great to ride, much lighter and cheaper to maintain. Cheers, Paul.

Snev,

you need to grow up a bit. Yours were the first and second comment to have a go at both the bike and BMW riders in general, yet you seem to take offense when one bites back.

Most grown-ups leave name calling behind at primary school, and if you have been riding for 35 years, that was a long time ago.

What is funny,

is that here in the US, many people mistake a Honda Dullsville for a BMW until they get close enough to see the Honda logo. Maybe that is why most Beemer riders wave back at me?

Here the riders that most often do not wave are those on Harley-Davidson’s, since they are pretending to be bad-arse 1% MC members instead of accountants, etc.
