Ducati confident in old bike strategy

Ducati is confident its surprise strategy to kick off preparations for 2013 using an old version of its factory Desmosedici machine is the right approach to help it threaten Honda and Yamaha’s domination of MotoGP in the future. Although the bike unveiled by Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso in the Madonna di Campiglio ski resort is badged a GP13, it is...

Set up.

"What new bike are Ducati supposed to roll out then?"

Make the significant change Jeremy Burgess has suggested! It's a bad handling bike and the reasons only Stoner managed to win on it were his unique ability to add just enough traction control, then ride on the knife edge and, in particular, ride in isolation. Making every race lap like a qualifier meant Stoner could ride the ideal line and thus flatter the handling. The effort probably broke him too.

People are kidding themselves if they seriously think it just needs a few clicks of preload.

You've missed the point. Only one rider could use it and even he didn't seem to enjoy it. I thought Hayden's loose style would suit the Duke, but no. To bring the same bike out with yet another rider for 2013 and expect an improvement is astounding.

Or rossi was leading them in the wrong direction, and they will have 3 top guys next year to follow, might end up going the same way as rossi might not, and stoner was/is no god somebody else could win on that bike just not rossi.

So what if the Japs make another big step??

Ducati better hope the Japs do n't make another big step in 2013, if they do then they could be made to look very silly. As I said in an earlier post, it looks like being a four bike one make Ducati series within MotoGP for 2013 and the best the riders can hope for is top gun amongst the four at Ducati.

are half these posts for real

Or just for the wind up. The truth (IMO) about the Ducati is its fallen way behind the Japanese in terms of development. Honda will be designing totally new engines and parts from th ground up to improve the bike as much as possibly every year .Hence wheeling out the 13 model early last year play catch up. Ducati are slow to respond and fell well behind even in the Stoner days. Most of the posts in here are just to get at Rossi. He may well be past his prime and on the downward slope, but to suggest the new recuits will give better feel back to the engineers is silly. The only hope they have is if Audi put sentiment to one side and redesign the engine. If Stoner Rossi, hayden etc say its pushing the front all the time and losing traction at the rear. its time to alter the biggest weight mass to near that of the competition. Its no good claiming the ride should be able counter that, as its just bollocks. If a rider of Stoners talent could only finish fourth in his final two seasons, theres a problem.

Iannone

If  Ducati are knackered , then I'll have a 5er on Ianone being their highest finisher (race position wise); next season , but if theyre sand bagging , my money is on Spies for highest over all .
