Ben Spies tipped to bounce back in 2013

Ben Spies has been backed to bounce back from a nightmare 2012 MotoGP campaign when he jumps on Ducati’s unforgiving Desmosedici this year. The Texan suffered a wretched second season in Yamaha’s official factory squad last year when a combination of rotten luck and unforced errors saw him slump to a disastrous 10th in the final championship standings. The 2009 World Superbike...

Ive never rated him as a true front runner, but he's certainly better than tenth with 88 points. he may reach ninth this year with close to 100 points, maybe even a couple over.

Apart from Spies horrendous 2012 season where the bike failed as much as anything else what do you base your front runner comment on ?

What he did in WSB was incredible, he's won a MOTOGP race in this very difficult era so what's the issue, be fair to the kid he has had a huge amount of bike issues ( how many racers have had a swinging arm fail in any era ! )

Cut him some slack, he may just surprise us all .....

well carcleaner says he is not a front runner so thets it .
He is an expert compared to most on here or so he tells us.
Spies is a very capable rider and I just hope he has better fortune than last season.
The main problem he will have now is a crap bike.
Lets hope it improves.

He was awesome in WSBK and had a crap 2012 so lets hope this story proves to be true, but making claims that he,s gonna bounce back before he has ridden the bike is a bit much

spies emulates stoner?

I'd love to see Ben be able to ride the Ducati to 'competitiveness'. In his cycle world interview he talks about struggling with the Yamaha as it doesn't respond to being ridden 'loose'. He believes he rides that way and I agree. So did Casey. Perhaps, jus perhaps he can.

Let's hope

The spies of 2010 returns, that guy could really ride a bike, quick and aggressive, no respect shown to the established riders.

Last 2 seasons though have been a disaster, even 2011 I felt he was a bit dissapointing and whilst he had more than enough bad luck last year even when he was fine and dandy he was getting his arse handed to him by the Tech3 boys.

No expectation on him this year, that could help, here's hoping he pulls a couple of podiums out the bag and gets the Suzuki ride for 2014.

Clean or loose?

That's the nub of it Moto4. The D16 and RCV are bikes that respond best when ridden loose and the M1 responds best to smooth precision. It's up to the riders to adapt to each, a point Rossi acknowledged but was unable to do.

Dovi for one did well changing to the M1 from the RCV. But now he needs to knock it back the other way some.

Spies I believe will make a good fist of riding the D16. He had a very poor 2012, and only half that was not of his own doing.

Ben had really bad luck last season but the biggest problem is having Lorenzo as a team mate, Lorenzo is the worlds best rider (thats why he is champion) and riding in the same team as him is going to shatter any ones self belief and confidence . except perhaps if your name isVALANTINO ROSSI .
