Hey guys, recently reading my insurance policy and it states that I can ride other bikes on third party only, im insured with MCE can anybody else explain more about this?

Can I ride any bike if its insured or not?

Thanks guys, so from what information I have gathered from here and other sources of info, If the bike is insured and with the owners permission i can ride the bike + obv if its not in my name etc..

You may be right.  I can understand why they need to list every bike, because the police, Road Fund licence etc. checks whether a bike is listed as insured, and a rider policy would not cause the bike to show up.

 

What I'm hoping, is that they'll calculate the policy based on the highest risk bike, then list the remaining bikes for a nominal fee each.  Will have to see what they come up with.

An update....................

Well, it's not a rider policy as we all remember them, more a policy which has no restriction on the number of bikes covered. 

 

It has saved me £ 120.00 over my renewal, so worth a try, and includes Legal, European Cover, Breakdown, Business Use etc.

 

Poor girl at Carole nash took 2 days to complete the quote, then had to type up the policy documentation by hand because their system couldn't cope with the number of bikes involved!  Also covers riding other vehicles - just to keep this thread relavant!
