They let m in and out of New York

just , my daughter was looking doubtful going in and Heathrow weren't too happy about letting me back in.

But we made it. I haven't slept since Friday, cat napping where I can but we did all the touristy things and no shopping :-)

Most memorable was Ground Zero and the Helicopter trip across New York, but boy I have never experienced cold like it, -8 plus gale force winds, we couldn't even stand up at one point.

Glad I went ? yes.  Would I go again? no.  It was a great weekend but the place is dated and dirty.

Food exceptional, beer rank, but all in all awesome

ditto oldish....

got some South African friends, and there seem to be a lot more places you wouldn't go to, rather than those you could....and that's them, with 'local' knowledge!!...........oh, and NEVER put anything remotely valuable in non hand luggage bags.

Glad you enjoyed New York. Nina went with my daughter a few years ago

I refused to go ! American cities do not do it for me, after San Francisco in 2003 I don't want to go to another US city.

Bucket list ? only one place, Adu Attol in the Maldives.

Welcome back, I didn't need to go as I've met too many americans and that was more than enough for me, so going to where they exist is a big no no.

Kam do you mean like the film with Kurt Russell in it?

I love NYC

and take my 2nd year students there on a trip that includes Washington DC. NYC is good in winter, sowy central park, ice skating in SoHo (like Somerset hse in London). Last time I saw ground Zero it was just a construction site.

Beer in US ain't good, except Sam Adams - try it on draft, You can get the bottles in tesco, but they ain't quite as good. Perhaps its jsut the lack of (good) buffalo wings in the UK?

Nevertheless, $10 a pop for beer ain't funny.

My daughter had Sam Adams

cack:lol: managed to have a couple of bottled beers but they were extremely pricey,

In fact everything was expensive to be honest, the helicopter ride cost 400 dollars for 2 of us and we were only up 20 mins:shock:
