MotoGP boss: Valentino Rossi convinced he still competitive

Valentino Rossi prolonged his MotoGP career until the end of 2014 at least because he is convinced that he can still be a race winner and world title contender against the likes of Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa. That’s the view of MotoGP boss Carmelo Ezpeleta, who believes the 33-year-old would not have completed a shock return to Yamaha if he...

But enough psychobabble.

Can he rise? Maybe. He's a smart guy, and brave as they come. All depends on where he is come 7th Feb. If he's two tenths close, there's going to be a couple of Spaniards getting very worried. They know what he's capable of.

Marquez won't worry 'cause he's 20 (almost), fearless, and a little crazy.

He'll be competative alright...

As he's on a bike he can ride, one which won't try and wildly under steer and one with an engine with a torque curve flatter than a witches tit. It would be a different story if he was still astride the Duke or something from HRC......

Its going to be such a bad year for Stoner fans and Rossi haters, - and such a great year for genuine lovers of the beautiful sport. The comparisons between Rossi and Stoner were always, in my view, highly ill-placed. Stoner, at his peak, had the raw speed of Rossi, at his peak, but the latter has shown, through genuine passion for the sport, a far greater longevity and a far more expansive trophy cabinet than pretty much any other rider in history! Whether he can win another title is largely irrelevant, he will win more races and in doing so further cement his deserved reputation as the greatest of all time.
