downshifting on fzs1000

hi have a 54 plate fzs1000. it has done 19000 miles.

when downshifting specially in the low gears.

most of the time gear changing is nice and smooth.

when the bike is warm, sometimes i have to force it into gear.

i blip the throttle as normal.

can anybody give me a reason for this, or is the gear box on its way out.

cheers bikerpaul7

Check the following,

Engine oil, is it motorcycle oil, does it need changing?

Chain adjustment is it too slack or has it been adjusted and is too tight?

Clutch operation, adjustment are these correct.

Work in that order and at 19,000 miles the gearbox unless abused will only just of been run in.

Hope that helps.

Yamaha FZS 1000 2004?

Hi BikerPaul7

All what Smidget has said should be checked, also check where your gear foot is,if you are resting your foot on the gear pedal, you can inadvertently push the selector drum around in between gears. This to can cause this problem, you may need to adjust the gear pedal down a couple of mill on the adjustable shift rod so your foot will not rest on it.But as Smidget says it might need a good service and chain adjustment to fix the problem.Good Luck
