2003 Honda Fireblade throttle problem

I have a 2003 954 Fireblade with a throttle problem, the bike pulls well in all gears and is smooth the problem is that on low speed corners or when throttle shut off and go to roll back on there is a delay this is most noticable at low rpm was wondering if anybody else has had this problem. I originally thought it was just me but a few mates have taken the bike a run and all say the same thing. Any ideas???

Fireblade throttle

The early fuel injection systems on Fireblades were not the most sophisticated and had a reputation for being a little snatchy so this is probably normal.  A Power Commander should sort it out if its really frustrating you.

Marcus is Right

Having ridden a 929 a bit & owning a 954 mesen I can confirm they can "hunt" a bit at low revs & be a bit snatchy. The 929 was a lot worse!

Try getting the bike serviced if it's not been done for a while, mines noticeably smoother afterwards. If it's still bad after that then a Power Commander + K&N filter (etc) with a bit of dyno time should sort it.

P.S.

Let me know how well it works if you do fit a Power Commander, been wondering whether to fit one mesen!

Cheers for the advice boys, think a service is probably a good idea and overdue, bought the bike in june last year and gave it an oil change then and think it had sat for a while before I bought it. Was hoping not to have to go down the power commander route as my nearest dyno will involve a 300+ mile round trip. This problem is annoying me, can't believe the bike was like this from new it would have certainly put me off if I was buying new. Will keep you posted if (or when) I get a power commander

Not a blade but I had a similar problem on my FZ1 and it turned out to be a faulty coil. Up to 1500 rpm judderd like mad then took off like a scalded cat.
