Bike servicing

Why is it that when you take your average car for a service it usually costs less than £100 yet you take your

bike where everything is more accessible it costs 3 or 4 times that much?

I have just had my carbs balanced and my shims done £289 odd to you ,a full service is around the £385 mark!!!!Why?

My bike is an old CBR 900 RRT.
