Only a Tory (not a funny thread, sorry)

would resurrect the idea that most rape is about a stranger following you and attacking you, or some guy getting over-excited by what you're wearing; rather than being perpetrated by someone you know (who has a problem with women)

Tory MP Richard Graham reckons "Short skirts and high heels are bad risk management" because its harder to "run away".

Well, Richard....Running away in bike leathers ain't too easy either. Or running whilst being fat or unfit or one-legged. Are all of these poor "risk management" issues that let us blame the victim over the assaulter (perhpas for muggings rather than rape?)?

One word...rhymes with hunt.

Risk management

You may be right, Mr Graham may indeed be a cnut,

but i think there is a grain of truth in what he's saying.
While women should be free to wear whatever they want when out for the evening, they also have to take some responsibility for their own safety.
There are bad people out there and they do bad things. We all have to 'risk manage' to some degree although in this instance i would say it was more about sticking with people that you trust, booking taxis in advance, making sure you're in control of your own actions etc rather than what skirt you're wearing.

so what he's saying is?

unless your an olympic runner then you deserve to be raped?

The F**Kwits in power really worry me!

but then riding Motorbikes we should be used to the victim being penalised for the crime rather than the perpetrator.

Wonder if the same Tories

would accept women dressed in Burkahs and carrying guns as improved "risk management"

If provocative and

err, unsporty, dress is poor "risk managment" then a less provocative and more practical dresscode must be the solution to this poor risk management....hence the allusion to Sharia law and the gun debate.

"legitimate rape"

Well don't forget a good number of these filthy republicans (US version of the bloody Tories) were trying to educate us about "legitimate rape" before their last election.  In these real, honest, genuine cases of "legitimate rape", we were assured, no pregnancy would ensue.

This is because following a "legitimate rape",  in the words of Todd Atkin, "The female body has a way of shutting that whole thing down."   He's not the only one by a long way, but serves as a good example.

Link: New Stateman  New Yorker

His point was that in a case of real, genuine rape, there wouldn't be any pregnancy.  So if this "so-called rape victim" got pregnant, it couldn't have been a genuine crime, because then she wouldn't have become pregnant.  Ipso facto.

And you think our right-wing party (the bloody Tories) are bad?   Just try these stinking, rancid American bastard reicht-wing Republicans on for size.

(Our BNP-loving,  or BNP-"lite" UKIP supporters, should absolutely admire the forthrightness of these freaks.)
