A snug fit

is desirable to keep armour in place in a spill.

Jacket + lining + fleece should do you for most weathers. Anything colder and you should be looking at winter jackets (gore tex) anyhow.

as ANichol says..

a snug fit is better to keep stuff where it should be in a spill...

i have a onepiece which is just big enough to get an EDZ undersuit and a thin pair of tracky bottoms and a sweatshirt under.. its suprising how warm that keeps you.. if you are going to ride in colder conditions, maybe look at a decent base layer.. fleece lined or something, warm yet thin...
