Importing issues and question

Hi all, I need some help please? I have just moved back to the UK from France and I brought back my French registered Aprilia with me. I have looked at the DVLA website and it says I need a Euro Certificate of Conformity AND proof of headlight change. I called Aprilia UK and they said that can't provide a Euro Certificate for non-UK bikes. They said I need to get this from Aprilia France. Is this correct? The Euro Certificate covers all he EU surely, Except for the headlight the specs are the same I assume? Are Aprilia UK correct, can I really only get this from France or are they just telling me porkies? Any advice from anyone who's been through this?

Thanks all.

EU vehicle import

I've imported 2 bikes to Spain, it shouldn't be much different for you importing from an EU country. On a UK V5 there will be a number, I can't remember exactly what it's called but it's something like a 'homoganisation number' When I did my imports the Spanish authority simply put the number into their system to check the bikes specs were to EU standards, I can't see it being much different doing it from France to the UK, look on your French registration document.
