Rossi and Lorenzo eager for Yamaha gearbox upgrade

Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo have made it clear to Yamaha that a seamless shift gearbox could drastically help improve acceleration issues with the new 2013 factory YZR-M1. A new gearbox was high on reigning world champion Lorenzo’s wish list for 2013, but the seamless shift system already employed by Honda and Ducati is not yet available. And both Rossi and Lorenzo...

Looks like the gearbox issue is costing Yamaha a few tenths - Pedrosa fastest by 3/10ths from Lorenzo - Rossi 1/10th back and Marquez 1/10th back from Rossi.   Half a second covering the top 4  and there are those who said Rossi was a mid-pack grid-filler. Hahaha!

Yes Dogbert

Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Crutchlow got their quick laps in very early in the session.  Rossi and Marquez got theirs in much later -   what do you make of that ?

man you are a cynic - where's your enthusiasm ? - it's the dawn of a new era.   Rossi's performance re-establishes him as a deserving alien  don't be so morose - join the 'happy' club

The main protagonists..

..are where we thought they'd be.

Great ride by Marquez considering his lack of experience on the bigger bike - he looks the real deal and will be a major threat. Also good to see Crutchlow was no flash in the pan from last year, if Yamaha show enough ambition, he'll be on the podium and amongst the mix all season long. And despite what might be thought, genuinely nice to see Rossi back at the front and obviously enjoying himself - it can only make for a more exciting year ahead.

But the 2 rides of the test go to Laverty and Smith for me, both gargantuan efforts from both riders with no mistakes - possibly CRT champ and rookie ( excluding Marquez ) of the year?...
