Headstock Bearings

I own a Honda VTR1000 1998 model which has 28,000 miles on it. At the last MOT I was advised to replace the headstock bearings. Should I fit taper roller bearings instead of the standard ball bearings? Will there be a difference in the feel of the bike or any other noticable benefit.

HI andykleyland

Headstock bearings.

It is best to fit taper roller bearings as these do allow for minor adjustment as the bearings settle, plus they have in general a larger weight bearing surface.
