During which races did stoner end up in the gravel on "his" carbon fibre bike, the GP09 ? I also thought that among the many things for which you consider he deserves blame was him having apparently influenced ducati to move on from the trellis frame.

Premier class gp bike racing has been about honda and yamaha, with suzuki as an occasional interloper, for nearly 40 years. The problem now is that they have escalated the cost structure, but I don't see that as just honda's fault, the sport is a duopoly not a monopoly. There are those who might think you and others have taken a set against honda because you don't like their last premier class championship winner. 

How many other manufacturers would enter if not dictated by these silly rules?

I don't know, with the world the way it is how many would be willing to spend what would still be millions to race something the public can't buy for a questionable financial return? But whatever the rules, other manufacturers probably still won't have the money or resources to compete with Honda or Yamaha. Yamaha may not be in Honda's resource league either, but they've been at or near the top for long enough to have in place whatever it takes to compete with them. Not so the rest. The last 20 years has been Honda / Yamaha with a brief intrusion by Ducati.

Technological advancement is at the root of the problem, in any motorised sport, it's slowly strangling them all with more emphasis on an electronic ability to control the mechanics rather than a rider / driver. Remove that and it may move things back towards a more even playing field but then people will moan that it's not a proper prototype series if they aren't allowed free reign.

All manufacturers look for whatever advantage they can get, it's no use singling out Honda. Ducati have had rules bent in their favour in WSB for years and some see it as cheating. Ditto Aprilia with their current WSB bike which some see as a prototype rather than a production machine.

Honda may be willing to now build a production RCV but what's the point? It'll be nowhere near the level of the factory bike so is it any better than a current CRT. Same with Yamaha's engines. You only have to look at the tiny differences between the current satellite bikes and factory bikes to see what a difference it makes in lap time. The production RCV will still only be a grid filler, you're not going to see some privateer with new talent winning races on one.

Felix quite right there son.Intellectuals would not have the silly discussions that go on on here but you have to remember Mr Wosi has a certain condescending attitude similar to a couple of others on here.
Best just laugh if that's what makes them happy.

Despite the need for competition there is non from Ducati . They are, a waste of a not insubstantial resource. I'd prefer to see the money wasted there go to Suzuki , Kawasaki or even more yams and Hondas, it would make a huge difference. Given the choice of just no Ducati though then keep them in it gives the crts a real carrot...one I suspect they'll be chomping on occasionally this season. From a purely business perspective the whole Ducati presiozi stoner based ideology has been a colossal waste despite limited success(see Portsmouth fc). It remains to be seen what happens to their wsbk effort. If you have one rider only getting results on a bike and everyone else is worse than bad what kind of lunatic throws the whole company into that philosophy?? Answer a designer who has carte Blanche to do as he pleases.. Could be a full decade before they get the company sorted has been 5 years already..
