MCN Bike Show

Have been to many Bike shows over the last 30 years of my biking life and am now wondering if it is worth going to future shows. This year was compressed into one arena with a dwindling selection of bikes to see in the "flesh" from the manufacturers. No Suzuki too! However, I did enjoy the Revolution show, though had to wait until the final performance to be able to get into a position at the front to watch it. (Only 5'5"tall)

What a load of Rubbish!!

Really dissapointed - came up from Hampshire for this and can honestly say I spent more time travelling than in the show as it was so boring! MCN blurb said Aprilia will have the new Caponord there - no they didnt, they had about 4 or 5 bikes and one of them was not the Caponord I went to see. MCN blurb also said come and see the Suzuki Concept VStrom 1000 - would love to only Suzuki not even there!! Rest of the dealers stands where very small and not much there to look at.

Too many side stalls selling tat - one previous poster got it right when they said like closing down at George Whites only a week late.

Not a patch on the Birmingham NEC show which is cheaper and easier to get to - WONT be going again - Poor Show MCN!!

Utter shite....

After the excitement of looking forward to a spectacular show, I was thoroughly disappointed.

Last years stunt spectacular had bikes jumping, flames, drifting, lots of excess noise, people cheering, exhaust noise ripping at my eardrums and those lovely Tank girls!

This year, a couple of electric bikes, a pedal bike and a couple of taxis, any excitement - Yes, when it finished and I went to buy a beer.

I know times are hard, but to charge what was the best part of £16, for what its worth I could take a tube to vauxhall station, cross over the road and visit Metropolis Motorcycles, sample almost all bikes they had a the show, have a free coffee, even maybe try a few bikes on a demo ride, and still have £16 to buy me a curry/pint!

The NEC was good, Excel was poor, can we claim our money back for such an awfully supported show??

Quite a few of us used to go to the sporting & racing  shows that  were on through the 70s  in London , but  since they finished we haven"t  ventured  there again . I was never that keen on the N.E.C. and  shows  anywhere near us are few and  far between . I used to go to a couple of specialist  shows in Doncaster and  Nottingham ,which are not far away  but their prices [for a pensioner] have now gone silly . They keep trying different shows north  of  the Midlands but they only last  for a year or two , I think they are trying to revive Manchester , which used to be great  ,we will have to wait and see ? . Most good  ones are open-air and are reliant on the weather  , which ,lets face it  has not been too good in recent times .
