Visor colours

Are there any benefits to each of the different visor colours available? Do the mirrored visors make everything darker, for instance, or bend various colours?

Or are they literally just additional peacock feathers to choose from?

Need to get a new visor for my helmet but have the option of:
  • Clear
  • Dark Tint
  • Iridium
  • Silver Mirror
  • Gold Iridium, and
  • Blue Iridium.
I've already got a pop-down sun-visor inside the helmet so will probably end up going for the clear version. Just wanted to see if there actually was a reason for the multi colouredness!

Sounds like clear is what you need

if you've already got a pop-down visor.

As others have said, irridium ones are crap in bright sunlight, occasionally you can see the reflection of your own face when the sun is at certain angles.  Plus I have seen very few irridium visors which don't scratch after a while, or the coating starts to flake off .

Black is the way forward, irridium visors are a bit yesterday now anyway.

Quite like the look of this "hemlet" and the latest Arai Quantum thingy and the Schuberth carbon fibre one and the HJC one and..... oh god I might just keep my old Kangol one.

Hard to fit that over your head. Don't know how much protection it'd be able to give either. Has it been SHARP rated?
