charity shop scams

I know throughout all of wales you have to pay for any plastic bags when you purchase goods fair play thats their law; but Iv noticed over the last few months many charity shops doing the same in England and charging anything from 1p to 6p, that last ones more than in wales, and some of the bags are really tatty Im ok now rant  over, just another way of taking money:ph43r:

Noooo!

I won't have that. I found a "barn find" Kawasaki 1000J in our local charity shop. And I didn't pay anything for the carrier bag.

Completely free! If I was in Wales it would have been 5p.

Check before you buy

"Excuse me charity shop keeper. How much are your carrier bags?"

If they are 6p walk out. If only 1p, carry on shopping.

Happy Days.

Charity shop scam?

C'mon, if this was a thread about a massive company like M&S charging 5p for carrier bags I could possibly understand your point.  Or the scam was that a charity shop wouldn't let you out, because there was a tiny sign in the window that said by entering you must give them some money before leaving. But having a go at charity shops?!?  It's called "donating", not taking money.

Okay, charging for obviously 2nd hand bags is a bit much, but if they charge for new ones, then that seems reasonable to me.

Do you also haggle in CHARITY shops?
