Valentino Rossi lauds ‘impressive’ Jorge Lorenzo

Valentino Rossi has given a fascinating insight into why he believes current world champion Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha’s factory YZR-M1 are such a potent combination in the MotoGP world championship. The Spaniard produced an exhibition in speed and consistency on the second day of this week’s MotoGP test in Sepang today to set a best time of 2.00.282. That put him 0.369s...

Monster are the main sponsor or as they like to call it racing partner of the official Factory Racing Yamaha Moto GP team.

Monster has become a major sponser for yamaha and rossi...jorge was told to dump rockstar, and since monster dont care about lorenzo, yamaha has picked up the bill. Jorge has always had THE SAME equipment as rossi....the wall was put up in 08 for tire security reasons...rossi kept it as he is superstitious and was winning titles at the time...if it aint broke dont fix it. Also rossi took a gamble with the bridgestones...a lot of people thought he was a fool for switching...it took a few races to make the adjustment...he proved his point about bridgestone having an 800cc tire advantage; then everyone wanted them(pedrosa demanded an end of season switch if i recall)...As for jorge being smugly confident and having the measure in 10....jorge of course feels he can beat rossi( so does crutchlow, so does....) but if you think that he is going to dismiss a 9times WC...he respects rossis ability as a racer like he does a very select few only. Some people seem to think that the riders comments to the press are always their true feelings. Do you really think lorenzo would say"im so mad that yamaha is bringing rossi back"? He might not fear rossi, but he is wary of his abilities....and rossi is enjoying his role as number 2...less pressure. Everyone has changed since 08....

Jorge had to get it put in his contract that he would have same equipment as Rossi. And in turn Rossi got upset about that as well as Yamaha offering Jorge a 1 year contract when they didn't offer him one. http://motomatters.com/page/2010_motogp_rider_line_up.html "Rossi may possibly switch manufacturers at the end of his contract, as Lorenzo's one year deal with Yamaha annoyed him immensely. Yamaha had never offered him a one year contract, and Rossi made his disappointment very public.....He (jorge) did so after receiving commitments about equal treatment, and he only signed for a year" Now why would he need assurances in his contract for the same kit if he always had it?? Because he didn't - it's a known fact that been documented many a time. And to say it was a gamble for Rossi to go to Bridgestone is revisionist history like the ones who say Yamaha had the worst bike before Rossi went there - complete and utter bullshit. The Michelins were on a downward spiral and the rule change to not allow overnight special tires killed any advantage Michelin had. And Bridgestone had just won the title with Stoner in 2007 so how in the hell was it a gamble to switch to the world title winning tires in 2008??

oh and for additional clarification

even after both were on the same tires in 2010 they didn't share any data: http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/156560/1/rossi_and_lorenzo_stop_sharing_data.html "I think that Jorge - already in 2008 but especially last year - demonstrated great speed and also a good attitude to fix and set-up the bike,” replied Rossi. "Now Jorge has two years in MotoGP so everybody in the team are agreed that it is possible to make his own way." - translation - he's too fast now for us to work together.

You have said a lot of nothing....you have spliced together 3 different years to come up with your skewed facts. Reality check puppy...1) lorenzo had it in his 08 contract that apart from tires he would have the EXACT same bike...this was offered by yamaha not demanded by jorge to woo him so he wouldnt sign for yamaha...in a pre-contract in 07 when he was in 250's. 2)...yamaha offered jorge a one year contract so that the expiration date would be in line with the other aliens....thats called smart business as if jorge flopped, yamaha could bid on someone else...3) after michelin domination for over a decade, bridgestone's performance in 07 was seen by many (but rossi) as a flash in the pan. Even burgess strongly recommended publically that staying with michelin was the best route to take...4) Not sharing data has nothing to do with equal or unequal equipment...5)I question your version of" its a well known" fact, as all your facts have been only partial true at best...therefore when you say its a well known fact....i hear" my interpretation of the rumours are..." thats more accurate. Try to make your past references based on info at the time....not with the 20/20 vision of hindsite...we know now that michelin sucked in the 800 era, but in 08 not everyone else did. Thats like saying 5 years from now, "everyone knew ducati would bounce back in2013 as they had a couple of bad years...predicting the past is easy....as is destroying your pathetically skewed "partial truth/mostly conjecture" hate statements...now im bored with you my little chihuahau.....
