Cal Crutchlow climbs into top three in Sepang

Cal Crutchlow took full advantage of improved track conditions in scorching heat at the Sepang track in Malaysia today to move into the top three on the timesheets. The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider knocked a massive 1.3s off his best pace from the opening day to finish with a personal best time of 2.00.907 that put him behind Spanish duo...

Cal the Great

He may be quiet (similar to the Great Joey Dunlop) and not full of ego like some.

However he is rapidly emerging as one of the great MOTO GP Riders.

He is certainly IMO a much better rider then Ben Spies.

I can see him challenging for podiums this year, wins the year after and a title challenge in 2015.

Not quite sure about the quiet and no ego bit Rob?..and it's probably a little early to lable him a great, although Cal's certainly one of the best Brits we've had in recent years, which ain't saying a lot with all due respect.

Saying this and looking back to when it was first confirmed he'd secured the Tech3 ride, it's satisfying to remember all the guffawing & wibbly wobbly comments from certain posters, largely on the Spies 5th alien bandwagon at the time, who are long since absent.

Where are you fuckos..and how's your boy doing lately? hahaha..

Here's hoping Crutchlow starts matching his undoubted talent and raw pace, with a bit more maturity, consistency & race smarts..maybe then we can start thinking about him in terms of name to remember & cherish.

I agree with 'wosi'. Cal talks too much considering his position.

Hopefully the unforced errors will be fewer this season and his position will gain ground on where his mouth is currently.

That aside, all the best Cal.

In testing Crutchlow can turn the Tech3 M1 up to eleven and compete with the factory boys but come race day he has to turn it down to save fuel.
