Jorge Lorenzo in dark over Yamaha gearbox plans

Reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo has cast doubt on whether he will get to race a new seamless shift gearbox on Yamaha’s factory YZR-M1 in 2013. A new gearbox was high on Lorenzo’s wish list to help him successfully defend the MotoGP title this year, but the seamless shift system already employed by Honda and Ducati is not yet available. Worryingly for...

Listen to any Oompa Loompa

and they'll tell you - Dozy old Buelli for one. Apparently a rider just needs to click his fingers and they'll have what they need from the Japanese in direct contrast to what happens at Ducati.

Perhaps

the minimal gain in terms of lap times is not worth the cost of development ???

Think of it like 2 stroke mix....ie 40:1...it takes dushitty 40 units of time to produce what japan can in 1 unit of time. Days, weeks, months....the ratio stays the same...in math we call that a coefficient....because its always true and the ratios always the same....wanker. Nice and quiet on here lately after you have scurried back to your bolt-hole

Burgess talks transmission..

From an interview that Aussie Journalist Colin Young had with Jerry Burgess..

"All this talk about an advanced seamless shift gearbox will not be the reason Honda will win races. I can tell you that you would be a mug to think that the Yamaha YZR-M1 gearbox is not something special."

"If anyone thinks Honda now has cutting edge technology it might be because they have come from behind."

"Yamaha has a very smooth, advanced system. I know how it works and I've been privy to the inside of some trick F1 gearboxes with the top teams."

"Seamless shifting is not an engineering marvel. You might save one hundredth of a second, and that's only on an upshift, although it is a nice feeling for the rider."

There you go..hardly seems to be holding Jorge back at the moment does it?

Rainey complained about the YZR500's chassis but never got anything from Yamaha because he was still winning. Team owner Roberts went out and sourced a ROC frame for him.

More recently, something similar happened at Ducati when Stoner was winning on the CF bike. Preziosi didn't believe his bike was bad..Stoner was just a crasher.

Choccy Cams - you sound bitter

Can't see tomorrow improving your disposition much. Expecting the three amigo's to amp it up a bit on day three.

2013 is already starting to look a little like a damb squib from a yellow perspective. Not that suprising to the rest of us though. For proof just look at Wosi posting sensible quotes rather than his usual contorted inventions and invectives. I know deep down inside underneath all that wobbly yellow custard is the glimmer of a realist in the old fleabag. Choccy cam - well, me thinks you're probably just a little too thick to comprehend that perspective.

chink chink fizzz..

Rossi was closer to Pedrosa today than he's been since testing started..so it ain't all bad.

Early days yet Nostro..but you just carry on amping it up while digging your way back home..

The harder they come, the harder they fall..wosi's best invective is on ice and will be served chilled.

2 days of electrical gremlins, rain and last years bike on day one and 15/100ths from 3rd...not worried at all. That means rossi, crashlots, and marquez would arrive at final corner of final lap in a pack. Ask lorenzo how rossi performs in those situations...And again...yawn...83-85 vf's suffered from " choccy cams"....the 86 vfr was a brand new bike with gear driven cams...just like the rc212-13v. Its their daddy! Your innattention to details like this are partly why your opinions are considered irrelevant...the other reason of course is your continued one dimensional posts...you are a satellite bike mate....last years outdated, less competitive model...or this years ducati...ill let you choose.

I wouldn't get your hopes up btl, Rossi was a lot quicker on the duke and so was stoner and look how their races turned out at sepang.. However it is good to see ducati looking like they are making progress. Julian Ryder on twitter says Ducati have a brand new frame on Dovi's bike today... What's that gobmeier?? We're not changing the bike?? errr....
