Electronic Payment

Is there an electronic payment method? I don't have cheques and the post office is miles and miles away.

Not worth contributing a single cent

I think it's pretty pathetic and ineffective to try to make money out of his death, and for a divisive completely unnecessary cause as private education. This isn't yachting or polo. Why on earth do bike journalists need to send their girls to private schools? If he didn't have insurance or a big payoff from bmw then that's just bad luck and bad planning. Mr Ash never went to a private school, why on earth should fellow bikers pay for his kids to go to one. Makes no sense at all. It's sad that his name is being tarnished with this kind of money grabbing antics.

Get Off Your High Horse

I can't believe the comments from the people taking a political view on this and one based on ignorance. Kevin had three daughters two of whom are at University and unless comrades you know different, then that is something that all students have to contribute towards every term and its not cheap. Kevin was a freelance journalist and you only have to take a look on line to see how well respected he was. He gave a whole lot more to motorcycling and people in general than he ever got back. Why on earth you feel a need to make such ignorant, ill informed and judgemental posts is beyond understanding. You don't want to contribute, then fine don't, it's OK. On the other hand why comment if all you can do is be so damn negative?

Kevin Ash fund

I think we can all agree that Kevin was a very important voice in motorcycling and I felt truly saddened to hear of his death. I would also wish to see his family properly looked after, and whatever he and wife wanted by way of education for their daughters should be catered for. If bikers are happy to contribute to the family's needs, then fair enough. What concerns me is where the Telegraph stands in all this. They have launched this fund, but I saw nothing in the announcement about how much the newspaper is contributing to the fund. As a journalist myself, I would hope that if I did something potentially hazardous in the line of work, that the newspaper would step in if things went wrong. Kevin died while testing an important new bike. OK he was a freelance, but he was a freelance about whose undoubted skills the Telegraph was happy to boast. If they think Kevin's family need help then shouldn't they be finding every penny of that help rather than inviting the biking community to put hands in pockets?

A small price to pay

Kevin Ash's articles were always well presented and easy to follow, even for the most technophobic of us. For that reason I will miss his musings hugely. But that pales into insignificance compared to the loss his family must be feeleing.

It was well known that Kevin worshipped his family, and to me sending a small donation that helps to secure his daughters education is a small way to show my appreciation of how much enjoyment his work gave to me over the years.

There is nothing political in it, there's no statement to be made other than thank you. It really is a small price to pay.
