South Africa

sun, poisonous/dangerous animals, platinum mines and guns.

Cornwall, rain, pollock, tin mines and ice creams.

Spot the difference :smile

got a couple

of Sth African friends, who lived through the apartheid times, and although white one of them used to help out the 'locals' and got hounded by the Afrikaan secret police...the stories i've heard are really interesting and shocking, like one the shop keeper who broke the nose of a black 8year old kid who had mistakenly walked in the 'whites' only door............but now apparently the blacks are the ones dishing out the same to the Asian migrants.!

if you go on holiday there, never never put anything remotely valuable in your luggage, in fact travel with just hand luggage if you can!

My ex lived there...

Apparently life was hanging out in your own gated complex.. Or driving to see friends in their gated complex... Or driving to meet friends at a bar/restaurant with good security...........

Police turn a blind eye to drivers running red lights at night as stopping the car could end you up mugged and dead... Wondering home from a bar drunk is a no no as you will likely never arrive home!

Fuck living in SA...... Other places like Durban are OK apparently!
