Hi Folks,

I have a 97 CBR1100XX I broke down last week, i had to bump start the bike, but it seemed fine once running but after a while the speedo and rev counter died and it cut out. I managed to bump it before it stopped but cut out again, once stopped the dash lights came on but nothing. I thought it was just a dodgy battery so bought a new one, once fitted bike fired up straight away and i took it for a long ride with no problems. Now one day later it seems to have drained the new battery? I can jump it but there is just a clicking when i try to start it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh it has no alarm fitted, just an immobiliser with small red light that flashes. Would this drain a battery in a day?

Sounds like the voltage regulator/rectifier is faulty and is not letting the alternator charge the battery,common problem on the early Blackbirds.You could check the wiring/connections from the alternator, r/r and to the battery.Have you a multi/meter?

Thanks, yeh been looking on a few forums, and it would seem RR is the likely going to get a multimeter tomorrow and check the whole system
