second hand tyres

is it advisable to use second hand tyres? my rear tyre got about 3mm left in her. I were thinking of getting a seconds hand front tyre until the rear needs changing and buy new tyres for front & rear. but people keeps saying buy new tyres only. i will be buying michenlin pilot power in the future, got pirelli diablo supercorsa on at the minute

Why?

an analogy i've always used " why have a ballet dancer and make her wear hob nail boots"

just get the two new tyres now, you can thank me later:biggrin:

Used tyres

Used tyres are a risk.  You don't know the history of the tyre or what stresses / damage it has been subjected to.  Ask yourself why it was removed from the previous bike in the first place.  They are a bad enough idea on cars and absolute lunacy on a bike.

what the pilot power's are like on the 675. cause unless we have a long hot summer, i think the supercorsa's are going to limit my riding!

Buy a Pilot for the front, then when the rear is worn, buy a pilot for that.

It's fine to mix tyres.
