Austin test vital to judge potential, admits Valentino Rossi

Rossi and factory Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo will join Repsol Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez for a three-day test at...

Why aren't Ducati there ? As the underdogs surely they need to get all the track testing time they can get especially with 2 American riders in the squad.

Hmmm...

Track knowledge is part & parcel of racing & Rossi has more experience at the regular circuits than anyone else... it's a nice exercise in seeing who's fastest at a new circuit but in practice they ride tracks they know working away from tried & tested settings & that's where it's going to count. They all know who runs well or badly at a particular circuit & which one is who's favourite... no-one will know at the end of this test if it's a true reflection of their & their bike's ability or if it's another Philip Island which one rider used to own.

As an indication of his and Yamaha’s potential for 2013 it has it's limitations... it is however going to save them valuable time setting up when they race here in April... good move & essential considering that Honda were testing here anyway.

Cal, Cal, Are you there?

I can't seem to find any quotes from Cal Crutchlow moaning about being left out yet?

A legitimate gripe Paul

Don't you think? Particularly since Bradl is getting a run out. Cal's been vocal about it previously.

Might have been fairer to ban that track for this year from any testing, then nobody gets an advantage.

Ducati

clearly feel that additional testing time isnt required - the work they have to do is more fundamental.

JL and DP will be the top riders in Texas.

VR is too old to win races.

The other two is more younghest and they have more physical condishion.

All of them is top riders but the time were a 35 or 40 rider win championship goes off.

I don't  think he can win more than one wet race with DP and JL out of  the race.

It's time to go home.

Nothing to do with Dorna (for a change) it is a private test for those teams who have the time and money to go. I am sure Tech 3 have the time but will want to keep the cheque book close to their chest until they can guage how many races Cal will stay on board. ???

Your shout is like me complaining about you suddenly deciding to go have a blast around Cartegena with your mates next week for 3 days, but I have to wait until April because I cannot afford to go at such short notice.

Ducati doesn't need to go because, even though they have had so many months, they are still using the same pile they finished last year with. Their riders must be gutted. When the boss said the current platform is not so bad and there was still a lot of things to try before they scrap it..... ??? Most of us thought, "Uh oh"? Ducati = waste of time/waste of talent. Cal had a very lucky escape indeed.
