Hi I need some advice I have always wanted to buy a off road / dual purpose bike and go off on a adventure mainly off road I have never been off road before and never rode a bike outside the uk should I do a off road day course to get basic skills or just go for it I don't no anywhere near me where I can take a bike off road legally ( I live in south Manchester) and I wouldn't no what bike to buy that is good price but well up for the job any help is greatful

It depends on just how adventurous you want to be but either way some off road training might be a good idea if you have not been off-road before. As for the bikes, I believe that the best ones are orange and have KTM written on the tank.

Some manufacturers do off-road training days too (look up Yamaha Offroad Experience for an example). BMW and Honda spring to mind as well, be aware however, some stipulate that you should be familiar on a geared bike, so do check.

If you do a training day (organised), then hopefully you'll be less likely to annoy locals or land up on private property (there's been a few horror stories of residents / landowners laying booby-traps for straying riders).
