Valentino Rossi impressed by ‘beautiful’ Circuit of the Americas

Valentino Rossi might have been slowest on the opening day of the private Honda and Yamaha MotoGP test at the new Circuit of the Americas yesterday, but it didn't stop the Italian from falling in love with the long and technical Texas circuit. On a first day dominated by a lack of grip, Rossi ended fifth behind Marc Marquez, Dani Pedrosa,...

Nostro's right, ignore stoner, and look where all the other ducatis except Rossi finished.. Oh wait, no other ducati rider other than stoner finished as high in the wc as Rossi... Pretty sure there'll be no ducatis on the top six this year either...

Interesting read on the Spanish Motocuatro site regarding the COTA test.

Honda originally were going to test there alone but Dorna insisted the session be opened up to any other team that could afford it. Other than a couple of CRT teams, it was only Yamaha Factory racing that could do it, but at a cost: One bike for each rider, no significant supply of spares if they binned it, and only two days assuming it stayed dry.

Doesn't say whether Honda took more than one bike for each rider, but Yamaha were there on the insistence of Lorenzo and Rossi, hence the veiled comments Rossi made about not staying for the third day.

They were clearly at a disadvantage in more way than one. But they simply could not have afforded not to have been there, even if they were well aware they'd get their arses handed to them.

Agree that MM is going to hand Pedrosa's arse to him with a side serving of fries, not to mention everyone else if he bucks the rookie trend.

Still think that it'll all come out in the wash at Qatar. Roll on Jerez next week. Roll on 7 April. Can't wait.

...and at the speed he's riding, he has plenty of time to admire the view. Anybody taken the trouble to take Rossi's comments and compare them to this time in 2011..? Sound familiar to me. Gonna need a whole raft of excuses our friend as the season runs on..

that's the one LCTanner

Then right at the end there's that bit where Jarvis says "remember when he came storming into the pits at Brno and said 'right it's either him or me' and we said 'him' ? The look on his face ... priceless"

Are you sure?... it's just it's unlike Rossi (or Wosi) to miss out stating facts like this as his reason for being the slowest. He usually tries to make sure everyone knows the disadvantages he faces.
