'Last minutes with Oden'

Been there - done that - several times, unfortunately. Worst days ever.

Unfortunately

I may have to face it myself sooner than I thought as my big girl has kidney disease:upset:

So far I have had to have 2 horses 6 dogs and a cat put to sleep and it's never easy.

we're in an odd position

We agreed last year to have the two remaining jack russells of an old chap from whom we got our one from - when he feels the time is right. he is in his late 80's with COPD and generally waiting to pop his clogs.

Then 2 weeks later our fit and healthy dog got ill and rotted away over 2 weeks - and I mean rotted. Did all we could with the vets to no avail. When it was obvious nothing was working we did the decent thing

So for the first time in 20 years no dog in the house. That was September.

However, we don't want to get a new dog as we don't know when we will be asked to take on the others, but of course that could be many months away - and of course I hope it is, but with me working away we couldn't commit to three dogs (not with the horses, the cat and the chickens)

So we are in limbo.

The old boy an amzing fellow started breeding before going off to WW2, and picked up when he came back. only problem is every terrier in Worcestershire and here in Herefordshire seems to be one of his, so very difficult if yu want to breed - you have to travel miles!!!!
