New water-cooled BMW R1200RT spied testing

A fleet of all-new water-cooled BMW R1200RTs have been spied carrying out road testing in the South of France ahead of the launch of the completely new bike in 2014. The R1200RT is the current best-selling tourer in the UK but will be replaced next year and use the same all-new water-cooled 125bhp motor from the recently launched BMW R1200GS adventure...

Slightly amused

at the attempt to camouflage the bike by using a paint scheme more interesting than the usual metallic silver grey.....just to draw attention like....

Hmmm

It would be a lot less conspicuous with a plain colour scheme. That said though manufacturers are concerned about other manufacturers picking up on styling clues so the garish paint job is partially to stop that.

Calling the local bike rags to the press event probably helped as well

Eh, at least it isn't another "MCN EXCLUSIVE!" although the title might be better as "New water-cooled BMW R1200RT spied on www.moto-station.com"

Finally

why they didn't bring out all of them together like they with k1300 s,r,gt this will slow down k1600gt sales cause I test ride the new GS even that is very smooth no tilting action when you rew in natural this will be a heaven to ride. If they do the timing well and give good additions this bike will sell mad ! And it will be like goodbye to others . BMW is amazing they bring an engine you wouldn't spend money to develop and waste time and they always play right. Ktm and all others should worry .

Was there an explosion in the spray shop whilst they were doing the paint job? Must be easy to touch up, who would know where you did it?!

it will be great - but grey

I’ve ridden the air cooled GS, RT and the Roadster, and the Roadster is the best most under-rated boxer of the lot. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the water roadster (to released after the RT I understand). But we know whatever they do they will all finally be released in various shades of panzer-grey so the beardies don’t get overexcited.
