The Italian managed to evaluate the new frame at the end of the final pre-season test in Jerez yesterday (Monday), albeit in far from ideal conditions to make an accurate judgement on its potential. Heavy mid-morning rain meant the track...

new bits

Rossi managed to top the time sheets on the current bike and knowing Yamaha the new chassis will be better so it's all looking pretty rosy in the Yamaha camp.
Formidable combination JL and VR and CC may help to keep the Honda's at bay.

Clever old Rossi

Despite his comments that he had learned nothing at Ducati, obviously he had... when he started out (with the terrible shoulder etc.) on the Ducati that Stoner left him in 2011, he was getting results of around 15 seconds behind the winner, but when his legendary development skills kicked in there, he managed to stretch that out to 30 seconds plus behind the winner reliably.

So sticking with the bike Jorge developed is far more likely to help him than putting his oar into the development situation at Yamaha - not that they're likely to listen to him any more..
