Cal Crutchlow looks ahead to Qatar curtain-raiser

British rider Cal Crutchlow is confident he is ready to pose a consistent podium threat in the 2013 MotoGP world championship. Pole counts for little it's the races that matter. Hope he has a better season in racetime this year nothing wrong with his qualifying.. Seems pretty dismissive of Rossi on the Yam even though he couldn't beat him when he was on the duke last year. I have a feeling that will come back to bite him on the arse. Has to be best of the rest no ifs no buts. Good luck Cal have a great season.!!Y*^^!

Rain ?

That could seriously put a spin on things (no pun intended) ! Roll on Sunday. The order of the top 5 should be especially interesting if it rains.

I presume BBC2 are showing it again this year ?

"Pole counts for little it's the races that matter."

Ah, but in the race, where it matters, it puts you at the front of the grid & means you're less likely to get knocked off at the 1st corner. Something Rossi's been a victim of as I'm sure you remember.

"Seems pretty dismissive of Rossi on the Yam even though he couldn't beat him when he was on the duke last year"

He doesn't even mention him? Rossi doesn't mention Cal in his goals because he wants to be up with the best... dismissive?... & Cal did beat Rossi last year 9 times of the 12 races they finished together... that's 3 times more than Rossi beat Cal... not that impressive considering Rossi was on a Ducati & even less so considering the crashes... they both need to up their games.

Sisterat - "when in jerez testing rossi was fastest on the driest day"

What's being fastest on the driest day got to do with anything? So Cal did the fastest lap of the test on a wet day?... impressive!

"It's as if he thinks he's better or faster than Rossi. "

He has been faster for the last 2 years but that was against the Duc... so what?... BUT he has been faster for 2 of the 3 tests... & that's with Rossi on a factory Yam. The nature of a racer is to aim to beat & be the best... otherwise why race? The best at the moment are JL & DP... ask Rossi.

Cal knows how he messed up last year & knows what he's being criticised for, & is talking a vast improvement... whether he can put that into practice will be seen... starting this weekend.

Fanboys complain when people critique VR and also when people ignore him. Why is it seen as a personal attack on Rossi if Cal did not also mention his name? He wants to be closer to Lorenzo and Pedrosa, ie. the two guys who consistently finished ahead of him last year. He thinks he may be in with a chance if he doesn't fluff up his starts. In 2012 his gap to the leaders was quite steady after the first handful of laps, so if he had good starts well maybe he could have been placing. Perhaps it has FA to do with Rossi, but a fanboy has a narrow field of vision, leaving only room for the yellow glow of their demi-god.
