Qatar MotoGP: Espargaro beats Redding to Moto2 win

2012 Moto2 runner up Pol Espargaro kicked off 2013 in style with victory in Qatar after a race long battle with Brit Scott Redding. It was Takaaki Nakagami who took the lead early in the race, but the Japanese rider was unable to hold off Redding and Espargaro midway through the race. Redding took the lead with 15 laps remaining and held...

Great from Scott. Hopefully has the belief to push on weight limits or not though having an orangutang on a tiny 600 is always gonna be a disadvantage against the capuchins....no offense Scott and keep it up brilliant!!

Scott.....

.... was brilliant. Looked relaxed and raced very well. Pol is top top class and Scott did an amazing job to not only keep up with him but to give him a proper hard race. It's gonna be a good year!

Despite the brilliant Espagaro, I thought that this was one of Redding's best-ever Moto2 performances and he gave it everything. Keep it up Scott - I'll buy you a burger when you win.

Good race...

Seeing how unprepared he's been for other races I'm not Scott's biggest fan but he's really come on & that was a great race from both of them... other riders may have gone for that pass on the last lap... & they may have crashed... I think when Espargaro watches it again he'll have respect for Scott but also note that Scott won't take those sort of chances. Could be a very good season if that race was anything to go by.

proven

last night was his best race by far,did not give up and looked like he saved some for a last lap fight, pol is not gonna have an easy time at shorter ciruits as qatar with its long straight didnt help redding did it.

Couldn't slipstream down the straight and couldn't make a block pass on a one line dirty track. Otherwise I think he could have won it. Looking good for the rest of the season Scott.
