Qatar MotoGP: Lorenzo dominates season opener

Double world champion Jorge Lorenzo dominated the opening race of the 2013 season to take victory by almost six seconds. Lorenzo got a great start and eased ahead of the field quickly. Dani Pedrosa also got a good start off the front row of the grid and spent a lot of the race in secod place until he was overtaken by new team-mate...

Fast laps on low fuel, and new, soft tyres can flatter to deceive. But anyway Cal didn't suck, he just got caught out trying to match Rossi on the brakes, never an easy thing to do. There's no conspiracy.

Epic start to the season, I was on the edge of my seat for much of it! Brilliant performance by Lorenzo, think regardless of the start he would have won, he definitely had more 'in the tank' if you'll pardon the expression in light of the cool down lap!! Great ride by Cal, but Rossi had the speed down that straight after drafting him so it was always going to be a hard ask to beat Vale on the brakes, especially whilst sat on the rumble strip, at least he didn't lose his 5th spot. Not sure what to make of Pedrosa, Marquez and Rossi seemed to break him in that final few laps, hope he gets his mojo back next race. Finally a sensational ride from Rossi to come back from 7th making reparations for that silly mistake at the start, Dovi is the last of the late brakers and on fresh tyres as well. The best part for me at least was that as the laps went on I could see Rossi's confidence in his machine and perhaps his own abilities returning, lap after lap he seemed to settle in and push the bike harder and harder. Its not often we get to see the Yams bucking and sliding but that seemed telling how much confidence Rossi had in his machinery. The battle with Marquez was outstanding, both bikes out of shape, some moves by Marquez that seemed to defy physics. Lets hope we can continue this excitement at Austin, a track that seems to suit the Hondas from what we've seen so far.

C*** just about sums you up....lorenzo dominated that race start to finish.....if he'd kept the hammer down he could have won by 15 seconds.....and no if rossi had not have ran wide at turn 1 he would still not have caught lorenzo...that's the truth C***

Why the fuck after 2000 years of over confident sportsman making a cunt of themselves do they still not learn. Regroup cal and comeback fighting better to say it on track..saying yam want to see two factory bikes at the front after qualifying makes stoner look reasoned ..

Really hope Rossi brings back the post win shenanigans. Lorenzo should feel comfortable enough in his own skin not to. Golf fail ouch!

Whether he 'would have' or 'could have' won  is academic -  that was an 'epic' ride by Rossi which NOBODY can deny!
