Jorge Lorenzo makes 'perfect' start to title defence

Jorge Lorenzo couldn’t have dreamt of a better way to start the defence of his MotoGP crown after he rode to a majestic opening round victory at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar last night. A fast start from pole position meant the Spaniard only ever had clear track in front of him for 22-laps as he romped to a start-to-finish...

What a brilliant start to the season!  The robot on form - the rookie ruffling feathers already and the return of 'Mr MotoGp' - did you hear the crescendo of cheers when he came into parc ferme ?    When did we last see someone come from 7th to 2nd bridging a 6 second gap and passing both Repsols in the process ?

But hey!   Hang on a bit tighter to your clip-ons this was race 1 of 18 - anything can and does happen in MotoGP.  Softly, Softly  one race at a time and see how it pans out.

quite right saturn

Only one round gone and anything can happen.
Dani will angry now so expect fireworks from him sooner rather than later.

Rossi does not like qatar or cota so god help the others when he gets to his favourite tracks.

GO DANI.

Nos

Wheres my old mate Nos gone. I miss his witty intelligent posts, his look into the future which he has never got wrong. his none bias opinions of riders and machines. and his friendly banter with other people on this forum. Come back Nos we miss you

jokeing apart an excellent race. Man of the race, Lorenzo, because of his style he never appears to be going  quickly. But dont write Rossi of for the title. Danny must be gutted, Get rid of Casey and Marquez appears. Cal must be gutted because his bikes not quick enough and Ducati might as well quit and cocentrate on WSB

Did not and has not gelled with quatar. Obviously pissed that marquez beat him, but im sure hes also just relieved to escape quatar with points and without injury. Marquez may win his first race in CotA, but after that dani will very much be fighting for the win. Im glad the little guy is healthy...he was smart not to push too much when he wasnt comfortable with the bike. When they get back to europe....

Rossi cocked up would loved to have seen if Lorenzo had it in the bag or Rossi race craft could have won it

Agreed mate... Dani will be winning a few races this year and he rode quite smartly.  You could see both he and Marc were pushing on the limit for a lot of the race and once Vale had overtaken him, chose not to get sucked in to their tussle - which he could have.  So that 4th place isn't going to mean much to Dani heading to Europe.  And a fit Dani is very very fast once settled.  Oh and Christ - that straight at COTA is crazy long.  It's gonna be a real interesting race with everyone learning the lines and tackling those 110 degree hairpins at the end of 220 mph straights!  Awesome stuff...

Lorenzo did what Lorenzo does best

Simply run a pace none of the others could match and stretch them right out. Congratulations to the world champ - a class apart on the night.

That track in the desert remains an obscene joke though. The sand will reclaim it all soon enough.

Pedrosa did quite a good job last year from plumb last... but only passed one Repsol of course. Now that was an epic ride!
