Cant get 2nd after winter.layup

After carefully laying up,y bandit 650 over the winter, I fired it up today and then couldn't get into 2nd gear at all, what's happening ? is there something simple I should try other wise I will have to ride 15 miles in firs to get to my closest bike shop.

Suzuki GSF 650 Bandit year?

Hi Wrenthamtown

Sounds like the clutch plates have stuck together over your winter layup?best way around this is to start the bike and run it until nice and hot, then go ride it with the clutch pulled in.This usually breaks it free you can try a bit of on off the throttle with the clutch pulled in to help snatch it free, soon as the bike revs free try for the next gear should be sorted. If it persists, in extreme cases you may have to strip the clutch and separate the plates manually(dip in engine oil) before replacing.Good Luck
