New Bike License - confirmation

Hi All,

I have been researching the new license laws for bikes for a student of mine. As far as I can figure when he turns 17 he can apply for the A1 (up to 125cc) doing CBT, theory and 2 practicals. At 19 he will have to do another practical test to ride up to 35KW (A2) and again at 21 ANOTHER practical test to ride what he wants.

Have I got that right? There is no automatic progression (like I had from old A2 to A). The bit that I can't find is what practical does he have to redo - Part 1/2/both? If both that is quite the earner at £90.50-104 for each level.
