Valentino Rossi cagey on title prospects

Valentino Rossi’s stunning return to Yamaha in Qatar earlier this month has not suddenly convinced the Italian legend that he is now a serious title contender in the 2013 MotoGP world championship. Rossi completed a fairytale return to a YZR-M1 in Doha when he fought back from a lowly seventh to second, which included a captivating late battle with rookie Marc...

Not very confident ...

... about Texas it seems - but then why should he be confident?

Rossi's been around for a very long time and knows the score. His chances of winning a single race this year are being ticked-off - one by one, and by the time they get to Assen, they'll of all but disappeared completely.

He's not stupid and knows this to be true. But equally, he knows that he's likely to struggle badly at Austin. It's another big opportunity for Crutchlow.

Actually in my view Rossi is in with a very good shout of winning the 2013 championship.

2013....

Make no mistake the Doctor has his mind set on the championship this year simply because it will probably be his last chance.
Whether he can manage it is a different story but it will not be for the lack of trying.
Now he knows he can still be competitive on a decent bike on a track like qatar which he does not particularly like he knows he stands a good chance.
If he is going to struggle a bit it will be this weekend but after that come some of his favourites and he knows he will be strong at those.
Some say he will not beat Lorenzo but after the way he charged from the third row at qatar I would not be so sure.
I would not count him out this weekend though.
