Jerez MotoGP: Lorenzo stays cool in crash-fest qualifying

Jorge Lorenzo kept his cool to ride to pole for tomrrow's Jerez Grand Prix as his title rivals buckled under pressure as they tried to close the gap to him. Pedrosa and Rossi crashed within seconds of each other towards the end of the session, leaving them unable to make full advantage of qualifying tyres. Pedrosa managed to hold second, ahead of...

Great QP

Rossi's finding out how much MotoGP has moved on while he was giving 70% on the Ducati. Like 2010, he's feeling the pressure of having a superior teammate and is binning it again.

Excellent work by everyone else.

Shame for Cal, but not a surprise either.

Just a thought is Rossi having the Spies syndrome at Yamaha. Won't be surprised if Cal defeats him easily like in America last time out.

Tet...

He did well... set a good early qualifying pace on his spare bike (ahead of a Japanese factory bike) then with 1 flying lap set another that was just as good on his rebuilt No.1 bike. Also he was in good company with his crash. He could have done better but it could've been a lot worse.

Tit..

Lorenzo looks happy and is going to be very hard to beat..but Sundays is Sundays Pal, if Rossi can make a good start like he has been doing, from his best grid slot in two-and-a-half years..anything is possible.

Dani was holding his wrist as he parked up and went into the garage.

Marquez continues to impress..did you see the slo-mo of him braking and steering into the corner with the back wheel a foot off the ground?

Props to Cal for setting his fast lap after that big off..it's the type of spirit that will endear him to fans, unlike the repetitive whining.

Nice to see the popular Hayden in front of the spotty one.

Bradl?..Oh dear. Glad I fked him off my FRR team.

Should be good tomoz.

Whatever happened to wosideg?

"Rossi can make a good start like he has been doing, from his best grid slot in two-and-a-half years..anything is possible."

Rossi's probably eyeing off a podium.  Catch Jorge, though?  I don't think he's a chance unless he takes a gamble on the long game with the harder rear.

"did you see the slo-mo of him braking and steering into the corner with the back wheel a foot off the ground?"

Yeah, impressive that he makes the corner like everything was normal.

"Props to Cal for setting his fast lap after that big off..it's the type of spirit that will endear him to fans, unlike the repetitive whining."

That's just Cal.  You have higher standards for him than you do for yourself or Rossi.  He's English, of course he's going to whinge ;-)

"Should be good tomoz."

Agreed.
