Marc Marquez didn't fear penalty after Jorge Lorenzo collision

Marc Marquez says he wasn’t worried that his hard overtake on title rival Jorge Lorenzo at the end of Sunday’s Spanish MotoGP race would result in a penalty from Race Direction. Marquez snatched a last gasp second with a bold braking move at the final corner that gave him the outright lead in the world championship. Factory Yamaha rider Lorenzo though was...

Good on ya

Last lap ding dongs are part and parcel of bike racing, no one was hurt so why not, if it was me I would try and get second place. Go MM.

why would he?

Race direction have long been a dithering bunch of incompetent twits who couldn't make a decision if their own lives depended on it, let alone the lives of riders.

If was deemed as a dangerous pass they would have given him a yellow card(wow). Jorge will hand it to him at Le Mans. Lots of us predicted that MM would aggressive like this, and true to form he shoves it up the inside of the WC to get second. HOORAY!

History repeating itself

Race direction really should have penalised Marquez, but they couldnt, because they let Rossi get away with exactly the same a few years ago when he bargged in Sete Gibernau.

We love hard and fair racing, but when its bordering on dangerous it needs to be penalised.

You've got to wonder

what the point of a penalty points system is if they're not going to use it?

So this now sets a precedent whereby it is perfectly acceptable to use another rider to stay on track and turn. Start of race, middle of race, last corner, it matters not a jot when an incident occurs.

Myopic. We can now assume safety is no longer a concern in a proven leathal sport. Seems Uncle Carmelo is changing his allegiances to closer to home too.

Political correctness gone mad..

You start penalising riders for having a go at the last corner, when there was a clear gap to aim for..you may as well pack the fucker in.

This is bike racing ya softees..I suggest you watch something less upsetting to your lilly-livered constitutions.

Wosi where your velour covered couch ends and your arse begins is virtually indefinable, so best not go down the softee route eh?

Nobody's advocating "not having a go", only know what is, and is not, possible. It's all very well bleating on about the size of the open barn door, but that inducement is a red herring. Marquez was too far back to pull the pass off cleanly and I dare say he jolly well knew it too. The move was certainly on, literally even, the 'hit and hope' side of things - that's a bit too uncool for me and motorcycles. Crashes involving other riders can bloody well hurt. Ever had one hardman?

Hmmm

It was a little bit naughty, but the gap was there.

To my knowledge not a single other rider has complained, Yamaha haven't complained, the pass was made at the slowest corner, on the brakes, and if Jorge had been smart he could have avoided the whole incident.

As usual the most outraged people seem to be on here.
