Missfire

I have a yamaha R1 02-03 fuel injected model , after a run I get a missfire below 3ooo rpm on 1cyl inder this has happend on all cylinders at some time and is cured by replacing the spark plug for a new one as standard factory fit each plug seems to last about 600 miles seems like high speed glazing

R1 misfire.

Interesting, I have a 2003 R1 and it doesn't do this. How did you decide it was the spark plugs, and how did you determine which cylinders were affected? Have you checked for diagnostic codes?

Yamaha R1 2002-3?

Hi Oneshot and welcome to the site:smile

This sounds like a typical Yamaha stick coil problem, one or more of the stick coils could be arcing out down the spark plug tunnel. If your very pleasant and your Main Yamaha dealer is a nice guy?you could get all four changed for free if it is deemed to be this quite common problem?.But you would have to ask and pay for this sacrifice investigation work to be carried out.If not try a breakers for as later set of coils you can purchase(as i think new ones are about £130 each:shock:)Good Luck.
