Rear Suspension bush has excessive play

Hi all,

my k2 SV650s has just failed it's MOT due to this excessive play. The guy at the garage was rubbish and had no useful information except 'it may be just a nut that need tightening'. My question is this - is this likely to be an issue I can solve myself with a tool kit and day off, or do I need to book it in and spend?

the handling has not felt particularly different since I bought it, though it's done 12k this year and it's my first bike so I have no comparison!

Any advice gratefully received :-)

Suspension play

Don't be too hard on the MOT tester, without stripping and inspecting your suspension linkage how is he supposed to know what the problem is?

If you get yourself a Haynes manual it is not too complicated a task to strip and inspect your linkage and bearings.  It is possible that stripping, cleaning and re-assembly with a fresh application of grease will solve the problem but you may need to replace the bearings themselves.

As MM says

to prevent any delay I would get any bearings / bushes to hand before starting the job and change them anyway thus reducing any waiting for parts.
