empty promises by RIDE magazine

saw the advert for a free disk lock on Ride magazine and though it a good deal for a 6 month contract of £22. Placed the order on 21st of march and waited 28 days for the gift to arrive which never did.
called them and ask for an explanation and received the following:

we are short on stocks and your gift will be posted to you in the next 28 working days!
asked them to cancel the subscription and refund but they are saying it has been enforced and can not be cancelled!!
clearly , it is a case of misrepresentation. It is the duty of the seller to fulfill the promise made in advertisement they make in national publication .They clearly say" guarantee your gift" in the advert. what if they can not send the gift after another 28 days ?
anyone else having the same issue with - not so great-    greatmagazines.co.uk ?
Thanks.

They all do it, sometimes in the 'very' small print it will say if they don't have enough stock they will send something of a similar value? :upset:

You never know, still time left for it to arrive. Either that, or you will receive leftover stock from anglers weekly or something

I have had three signing up gifts from Ride, a torque wrench, a Knox rucksack and a set of one-piece waterproofs.  All were brand name products, which was great considering they came with a subscription.  The rucksack is brilliant - it's one of my favourite bits of kit and is still serving me well after a few years use.  All the promised items arrived within a couple of weeks of signing up.
