If Sete had not nailed Loris then 2006 would have been Ducati's first WC. Anyone who denies Loris' talent should have a serious think about sharpening their spoon. And who at Ducati, in their right mind would give full backing to two riders when one is looking good and the other is having issues? Ducati didn't in 2007 and it gave them the title, that and not having a carbon fibre frame.
